Dawson City

Population - 1,375 (2016 census)

Dawson City is the heart of the Klondike Gold Rush! It's the second largest community in Yukon. Dawson City invites you to turn back the pages of time and experience its living history. Before the Gold Rush, the Dawson City area was used for agriculture, a salmon fishing camp and an important gathering spot  by the Han First Nations people. At the peak of the Gold Rush, more than 40,000 people called Dawson City home.

Dawson City is the halfway point of the Yukon Quest. There's a mandatory 36 hour resting period for dogs and mushers.
